By Pete Wotton

To become a a video game tester is an ambition that thousands of young men and women from around the world dream of doing. Who would not want to be paid to do a job that they willingly do in their own time anyway?

Other than being a professional sportsman or woman, there arent too many jobs that you can do, that pay you for doing something you love.

The video gaming industry is one of the largest industries in the world, and as such thousands of young adults in the US and around the world are employed as video game testers.

There is an astonishing amount of video games being produced to cope with the increasing demand. With so many different game companies producing them, there are a lot of video game testing jobs available that require qualified, motivated people to fill.

Obviously these positions are in great demand, especially among young adultsmen and women, and game companies can be particularly stringent in selecting potential employees.

You will often come across video game testing positions that require particular qualifications. The reason they do this is often to reduce the amount of applications they receive so that they can accelerate the recruiting process.

This will naturally stop the majority of people from ever applying for such posts. However, this is a big mistake and is something that you really should infact use to your advantage.

How To Become A Game Tester Without Having Any Qualifications

If a big game developer advertises for a game tester job that you really want, then you should still apply for it, despite the qualifications stipulations.

If you have done your homework and have a great resume already written, then I suggest you go ahead with your application. That way your profile will get in front of someone in the company and be read. And that is the first part of the battle won.

You will be seen as a 'go getter' and often looked upon much more favorably than most of your peers who may have the required qualifications. If you show the desire and professionalism in wanting to become a video game tester, then qualifications do not always matter.

To become a video game tester you must be pro-active and go out there and put yourself forward. This demonstrates to your potential employer that you at least have determination and initiative, which go along way in ANY employers eyes.

Remember, this is a dream job you are searching for, that could easily lead to higher paid jobs within the games industry. If you have a good attitude and are prepared to work hard at it, there is no reason at all why you shouldn't become a video game tester.

Trust me, it's definitely worth the effort when you see your friends and tell them you are a professional video game tester!
