Ever organized a costume party and landed up seeking professional help? Organizing a party can be a real problem; right from choosing the theme, sending the invites, decoration etc especially when you are doing everything on your own. Hence, it becomes important to plan this entire thing in advance and taking help from your friend is just the beginning. After all, they will be the one enjoying the party to the most.
Selection of the theme is the most important part for holding a costume party. Hence, it should be the first thing to do. Try to make the party as enjoyable and fun-filled as possible for every guest. Make a note that the women's and men's costumes as per the decided themes should not be hard to find as this might make the guests coming in formals or other party wear with an excuse that they did not find the costumes! This is surely going to spoil the mood of the party. Keep everything within your budget and check if the decorations that you are planning to do will suit the venue or will the venue be able to accommodate the desired decorations.
Ask help from friends and family, and do some brainstorming! It's always nice to get ideas from others especially when you're running out of it; the more plans you can think of, the more likely the costume party will be a success. Grab a pen and paper, and list everything you've discussed. After some more brainstorming and sleepovers, decide on which ideas you'll be using and which ones you can save in the meantime, in case the first chosen plans won't be feasible.
The age group is responsible in shaping the whole idea of a party. For instance, if the majority of guests are going to be children, then everything has to be planned as per the convenience of the children. The food, the theme, even the costumes, they are hard to find though. The food in this case has to be less messy and appealing. It's the opposite in the case of adults. Open bars and cocktail drinks are generally seen in a party which is attended by the adults in majority. Also, in contradiction of the children's, adult costumes are easily available.
The invitations should be sent to the guests some considerable time before the party. This will make sure that the guests have the right costume and have arranged everything for that day. The invitation if sent out before a month form the date of the party will be fine. Since you are sending the invites a month before, you may mention a punishment for the guests who are not going to come in the right costume!
A costume party should not be short of prizes! It should also be included in the invitation that there will be prizes for those who'd appear in their most unique costumes. A category can be created as to the most inventive, most sexy or even most old looking costumes! The invited guests would be more challenged if there's a chance their costumes can win them something. And of course, it adds more amusement to the party as everyone anticipates which among them will be taking home the special prizes. And who knows, there might be some few people who'd be interested to donate more to the prizes!
A party without fun is not a party. So you should take each and every measure to make sure that the guests are having fun at the party. Now just imagine people sitting in a hall in beautiful costumes, each different from other, not doing anything except talking. Will that really be a party? Not at all. So nothing can be as fun as good music. An emcee with good people skills will work fine.
Do not forget to enjoy the party. Agreed that the guests should be happy, but you have organized the whole party. You have to enjoy the most, on your own as well as with the guests. The event's success is your success. So celebrate!!!
