Alice's Restaurant: Guthrie's trendy record empowered this abnormal mix of satire, whimsy, melodrama, and communal comments. Cast includes Arlo Guthrie, Pat Quinn, James Broderick, Michael McClanathan, Geoff Outlaw, and Tina Chen. (111 minutes, 1969)
Raising-Cain: Lithgow is the entire show here. He literally has more roles than you might tally in this over-the-top thriller in reference to a set of double brothers who'll halt at nothing to acquire kids for their dad's theological trials and errors. Tongue-in-cheek De Palma workout with nods to Hitchcock, Welles, and Michael PowelI is laced with satire, although the Hurt who couldn't give his spouse the one thing he desires most: a youngster. The Rocketeer: The year is 1938, and pilot Cliff Second makes an incredible discovery. It is a secret jet pack that allows him to fly. He learns that screen star Neville Sinclair wants to give the jet pack to the Nazis. Cliff must elude Sinclair, take down the Nazis, and, obviously, save the girl.
So Ends Our Night: Better film of Erich Maria Remarque tale of German March denying Nazi reign, escaping his nation with intense chase by Axis representatives. Cast includes Fredric March, Margaret Sullavan, Frances Dee, Glenn Ford, Anna Sten, Erich von Stroheim, and Allan Brett. (117 minutes, 1941)
General Spanky: Slothful Civil Battle tale, balancing kid pranks contrary to an adult romance, was meant to showcase 3 Our Clique megastars in a characteristic-film format; it's simple to see why there wasn't an encore.
